The STRATO CCA: Gold's Upgrade Starts Here
Hard money and assets, like gold and silver, need an upgrade. STRATO does that.
TL;DR
- What: STRATO Community ICO, a Continuous Clearing Auction on Uniswap
- Thesis: Stablecoins put dollars on crypto rails. STRATO is doing the same for gold, a $30 trillion asset that's still 99.98% un-tokenized.
- Best STRATOgies: The mechanics of the auction favor early bidders and those who have a higher budget and max token price. Details below.
- How much: 2.5% of the total $STRATO supply
- Dates: Pre-bid opened June 3, public bidding June 4, auction closes June 11, ~11:30 am ET (depending on block times)
- You'll need: Native ETH on Ethereum and a browser wallet (MetaMask, Rabby, or Phantom)
- You'll receive: A wrapped ERC-20 of $STRATO, redeemable 1:1 for native $STRATO at the TGE (expected Q4 2026)
- Bid here: app.uniswap.org
For the first time, anyone can own a piece of $STRATO.
The STRATO Community ICO, a public Continuous Clearing Auction (CCA) on Uniswap, opened publicly on Thursday, selling 2.5% of the total token supply to the people who understand what we're building.
The auction is the entry point to a much larger bet. More than $30 trillion in gold sits in vaults, ETFs, and private holdings around the world, and almost none of it works the way money should.
STRATO exists to change that, and the price discovered at this auction becomes the anchor for everything that follows. By the end of this 3-minute article, you'll know exactly how the auction works, what you're buying, and how to bid so you get the best possible price.
Cash and Treasuries Already Got Their Upgrade. Gold Didn't.
Stablecoins took the dollar, principally backed by treasuries (though often by a wider mix of collateral), and put it on decentralized rails. The result settles near-instantly, moves anywhere, and plugs into any application. Stablecoins now circulate at over $300 billion and have become the financial-inclusion tool many of us once expected pure crypto to be.
The quiet irony is that the new money turned out to be a tokenized version of the old, still not inflation-resistant, rather than the clean break some imagined. Enormously useful, but not the original cypherpunk vision.
Gold never got that upgrade. It remains the oldest and most trusted store of value on earth, the default savings vehicle for roughly half the world's population, and lately the reserve asset central banks are choosing over treasuries.
Yet most of it earns nothing. It is hard to move, hard to spend, and hard to borrow against. The qualities that make gold valuable – its scarcity, durability, and universal trust – have nothing to do with the qualities that make money useful day-to-day, which is transmissibility, divisibility, and liquidity. Crypto can give gold all of that.
In other words, gold and crypto are naturally complementary, not competing.
Gold brings the trust; crypto brings the modern rails. Tokenized gold is how the oldest money gains the benefits of the new. Moving dollars onto these rails was a major unlock. Moving gold may prove bigger, because gold is both less convenient today and more widely held.
There is a huge opportunity here. Stablecoins represent roughly 1% of the treasury market, but only 0.018% of gold has been tokenized so far: about $5.5 billion against more than $30 trillion above ground, according to DeFi Llama. If gold follows even part of the curve the dollar is already on, the room ahead is enormous.
STRATO actively proves HardFi works. We've already built a platform where you keep the assets you trust while gaining the speed and permissionless access of DeFi. We've created USDST, a gold-backed stablecoin that makes gold spendable. Users have secured over $37 million in TVL and originated nearly $5 million in gold-backed loans, saving, borrowing against their holdings, and earning today.
Why We Chose a CCA, and What You're Buying
A Continuous Clearing Auction was the right way to open $STRATO to the public, for three reasons.
First, it produces real price discovery. Bidders set the price collectively by submitting what they believe the token is worth, rather than accepting a number we picked in advance.
Second, a CCA on Uniswap is gatekeeper-free, so anyone can participate. We lived through the Ethereum presale, and the CCA is its spiritual successor.
Third, it distributes the tokens fairly. Every bid that clears in a given block pays the same price, no matter its size. High-budget bidders win a larger share, but lower-budget bidders still clear and receive tokens at that same price, so whales and snipers can't dominate the sale the way they do in fixed-price launches and airdrops.
During the Community ICO, you are buying a wrapped ERC-20 representation of $STRATO that lives on Ethereum. It redeems 1:1 for native $STRATO at the Token Generation Event, expected in Q4 2026, when you can bridge to the STRATO network and trade.
The gap between the auction and the TGE gives us time to finalize CEX listings, complete a final round of audits, and seed launch liquidity. It also means the clearing price this auction sets becomes the reference point for everything that comes after.
How the Auction Works, and How to Get the Most Out of It
Each bid has two inputs:
- a max budget in ETH
- a max FDV, the highest fully diluted valuation you're willing to buy at.
The protocol divides your budget evenly across every remaining block of the auction and clears each block at a single price. Everyone whose max FDV sits at or above a block's clearing price pays that same price. If a block clears above your max FDV, that slice doesn't fill, and that portion of your budget returns to you when the auction ends.
The mechanics carry three takeaways worth understanding before you bid:
Early bidders tend to get a lower price. The clearing price rises only when demand outpaces supply, so it can climb or hold flat but never falls during the auction. Bidding early works like dollar cost averaging into a rising curve: the sooner you commit, the more low-priced blocks your budget reaches. Waiting doesn't earn you a better price. It earns you a later start.
Whales and snipers can't dominate. Every bid that clears in a given block pays the same price, regardless of size. Larger budgets win a larger share, but smaller budgets still clear and receive tokens at the same price, so the sale stays open to everyone.
A higher max FDV can LOWER your average price. It sounds backward, but setting a higher ceiling and budget lets your bid keep filling through more of the cheaper early blocks, winning a larger share of them before the price moves up.

The $STRATO Token
$STRATO is the utility token at the center of the protocol. You pay for gas with it, validators stake it to secure the network, and holders vote on protocol parameters. The protocol earns revenue through borrowing, lending, swaps, and mints, all proportional to the amount of gold tokenized on STRATO.
That last point is the one to sit with. As more gold moves onto STRATO, more activity flows through the protocol, and the token sits at the center of that activity. Holding $STRATO is a way to participate in the growth of the network itself, which is distinct from holding the spot price of gold. You can read the full token breakdown in our documentation.
Turning Gold Back Into Money
Our mission is straightforward: turn gold back into money and unlock what it can do. The oldest, most trusted asset in human history ought to power the financial lives we live every day, and it can't do that locked in a vault.
We made the Community ICO small on purpose. We wanted to start with the people who understand the bet, set a real price together, and let that clearing price anchor what comes next. Stablecoins proved that the most trusted money in the world gets better on open rails. Gold is the larger opportunity, and this auction is where it starts.
